Another weekend approaches with the opportunity to get a little crafting in.

dimensional paper owl | pleated purse | hedgehog pincushion

  • This 3D paper owl is a hoot! (yes, I know, but it had to be said). Just print, fold, and glue any one of 13 different colors. And if you’re not into owls, 3EyedBear has a host of other “imaginative little paper creatures” to print and assemble (via How About Orange).
  • My Spare Time shares her pattern for a pleated purse with a cute contrasting lining and pockets; and it only takes a little over a yard of fabric to make.
  • A cute little hedgehog pincushion could really perk up your sewing space. Double the top felt for a two-toned effect, and add safety eyes or maybe tiny buttons and a little pompom for the nose (image and tips via SugarySweet on craftster).

flower pillow | reversible bucket bag | 3-in-1 knitted sweater scarf

  • This felt flower pillow (via The Crafting Chicks) is a great addition to any couch, but I can also envision using the same technique for a bag or scaling it down for a sachet or purse.
  • Sew Mama Sew shares a free pattern for a reversible bucket bag, one of many pattern’s from from Lisa Lam’s The Bag Making Bible. This definitely looks like a book that I might need to explore further.
  • The folks over at Berroco call this a “scarf with sleeves”, but it’s more like a clever 3-in-one sweater to me. The only drawback is that it does require a bit of yarn, so you might want to check elann.com for something comparable to the recommendation at a lower cost. I have too much yarn sitting unused yet, but I have been interested in ordering from them for a while now as they have a nice selection of quality yarns at good prices. A fellow knitter is a big fan and turned me on to them.
