I’m a sucker for any kind of sweet treat, and don’t feel a meal is quite over until I’ve had at least a little bit of sugar. Homemade desserts are always the best, but with busy days I rarely have the energy for anything complicated. Next time the sweet tooth calls, these recipes are one my list to try for their promise of low effort and quick gratification:

First some chocolately stuff:

  • S’mores Bites: Yet another addition to my smörgåsbord collection, these easy s’mores cook right in the oven; just layer graham crackers and halved marshmallow on each, broil quickly, then top with a Hershey Kiss. If you want to get fancy, you can cut the graham crackers with a circular cookie cutter like the recipe author, but I plan on just leaving my grahams square to make this even easier.
  • 1-2-3 Cake: Angel food cake must be aptly named, as it sure seems like there’s magic in its mix. Try this: combine equal parts angel food cake mix and any other flavor cake mix, then place 3 tablespoons of this mixture in a mug with 2 tablespoons water (or 1 Tbsp water, and 1 Tbsp natural applesauce) — being careful not to mix too much–microwave 1 minute, and viola!, a single serving of cake.
  • Chocolate Peppermints: Just four ingredients and you’re on your way to homemade Junior Mints (“deconstructed”, if you will): powdered sugar, cream cheese, peppermint extract, and chocolate chips.

Next, on to the fruity stuff:

  • Bubbly Berry Cobbler: What happens when you combine lemon-lime soda, frozen fruit, and cake mix? Fruit cobbler!
  • Crescent Roll Pies: While I’m partial to apple, this recipe for easy individual pies is limited only by your imagination. Sweet or savory, just roll out refrigerated crescent roll dough into squares, scoop in the filling in each one of your choice and bake.
  • Raspberry Butter: Another four ingredient recipe, this sweet butter could turn any bread into dessert. Or imagine on pancakes, french toast, crêpes, waffles…mmm
